Many tools produce a number even when they do not know. The number always arrives; what it rests on never does. This product says when the grounds are thin, and writes down why.
When too few usable signals were found, when analysis coverage was low, when the uncertainty band was too wide, and when that band straddles a grade boundary. Decisive evidence pointing both ways at once also stops a verdict.
Not a single 88 per cent but a range from 71 to 96. If the inner edge of the range does not clear a boundary, that grade is not given. This structurally removes the case where a wide, uncertain value reads as confidence.
Every inconclusive carries a reason code: insufficient evidence, low coverage, a band too wide, or stylometry-only grounds. It appears on screen and in the report. We do not produce an inconclusive without a reason.
The reason decides the next move. For a copy with its metadata gone, find the original; for text that was too short, submit a longer passage; for low coverage, raise the depth and run it again. The result tells you what would change the answer.
This is general guidance, not legal advice. A scan result is a probabilistic assessment, not proof.
